Johann Staind(e)l (in Latin: Lapillus)

In 1446 Johann Staindl is appointed to cathedral minister, choir curate and beadle of the cathedral of Passau.
His most important work is the "Chronicon generale" a comprehensive universal history (published in 1508).
With this and other publications Johann Staindl became one of the important representatives of Humanism of Passau.
During the quarrel between cardinal Hessler and Mauerkircher Staindl sided with Mauerkircher. For that reason he was in prison and was banished for same time.
Johann Staindl dies on December 10th in 1518. and is buried in the cloister of the cathedral in Passau.
